Building a Community for Growth

When you choose to live in this community, you choose the elementary, middle and high schools that your child will attend. An elementary school feeds into the middle school down the street, and the middle school feeds into the neighborhood high school. This alignment allows academic leaders to ensure that the foundational curriculum prepares children as they progress through the grades. Counselors, teachers, specialists, Fine Arts educators, and coaches become aware of children advancing through the cluster schools and prepare for their needs, gifts, and talents.

What does “media release” mean?

Giving your child media release means teachers will be able to take and publish photos of them for the
classroom and school websites. Teachers often feature student photos on the web to show parents what is going on in the classroom. Media
release covers functions that are photographed or video recorded for the NEISD website. If they do not have this release, their photo or video
cannot be used

Why should I give my child internet access?

We use the internet for several school projects and lessons in the classroom and the computer lab and classroom. Your child’s participation will be limited if they are not given internet access.

When do I bring my child’s supplies to school?

It is most convenient if supplies are dropped off during Meet the Teacher Night. Teachers can
organize them before students arrive the first day.

When will I find out who my child’s teacher is?

You will receive a phone call the week before school begins. This will be your child’s teacher calling and giving you information! ☺

My child needs to ride the bus. How do I know which bus they will ride?

There will be a bus information table at Meet the Teacher Night. We
will be able to give you the bus number and location of your child’s bus stop. All bus riders will need a bus tag.

I need to be DPS cleared to volunteer! How do I do that?

May I bring my younger children to school functions?

School-age siblings are not allowed to attend classroom functions or school field trips during the school day. Siblings may attend award ceremonies and after-school events.

I’m new to Castle Hills. What else should I know?

Students are not allowed to share food at school. We have students with food allergies.
- If you need to change how your child will be going home, you must notify the office
or your child’s teacher as early as possible. (Ex: If your child is regularly a bus rider, but will be picked
up by a parent in the car line, you will need to contact the office or your child’s teacher with this
information.)
– You may send store bought treats for your child’s birthday. They can be dropped off in the
office at any time. They will be delivered to the classroom at the end of the day. Parents may not
attend the classroom celebration.
– PLEASE write your child’s name in every jacket, coat, sweater, hat and lunch box.
– If you will be eating lunch with your child, volunteering, or attending a school function,
you MUST sign in at the office. Please make sure you have an ID. On regular school days, parents are
required to sign out at the office immediately following lunch.
- NEISD creates a Skyward Family Access account for you automatically when you register a student in the
District. If you don’t receive an email invitation in the first few days after registration, call the NEISD Help Desk at 210-356-4357 for login
assistance. You will use Skyward to view your child’s grades and attendance.
